Chernihiv is a historic city in northern Ukraine. It is situated on the right bank of the Desna river. Chernihiv is the administrative center of the Chernihiv Oblast (province) . The population of the city is around 300,000. Chernihiv was first mentioned in the Rus'-Byzantine Treaty (907).
Downtown
If you want to go out, in Chernihiv you can allways play a game of pool or bowling with your friends, go to one of the two big cinemas in the downtown, go clubbing to one of the many clubs in the city at night, or just walk in one of the many wonderfull parks.
Monasteries
There are many architectural monuments in Chernihiv, mostly monasteries of wonderfull architecture.. At the outskirts of the modern city lie two ancient cave monasteries, formerly used as the bishops' residences.
